Why Telegram Premium still wants card payments, not TON

App Store and Play billing rules, not a conspiracy, keep Premium mostly in fiat rails.

People ask why Telegram Premium is sold for ordinary money — App Store, Google Play or @PremiumBot — instead of settling only in TON or Stars. The short answer is platform law. Apple and Google expect digital subscriptions inside their apps to use their billing systems. Telegram’s own help pages describe those three purchase routes; the bot is cheaper because it avoids store cuts.

If the iOS or Play build charged Premium directly in TON, the apps would risk store rejection. Stars are Telegram’s in-app balance for digital goods; they are bought through the same constrained rails. That is product and policy plumbing, not proof that TON is “not real” or that a stranger’s “pay Premium via this wallet” link is official.

Treat any DM that sells “official Premium cheaper in USDT” as phishing. Open Premium only through Telegram’s documented flows.
