A grotesque marketplace ad is not a market signal

Being force-fed a vile classifieds creative means targeting is broken — not that you owe the advertiser a look.

Readers sometimes ask whether a nauseating classifieds creative — the sort that follows you across phone and desktop — is a clue about a financial scheme. Usually it is only a clue about ad auctions and retargeting. Ugly does not equal fraudulent; pretty does not equal safe.

If an advertiser later asks for crypto, “licences”, or remote access, judge that ask on ordinary scam rules. Until then, use platform ad controls, do not engage, and do not treat your disgust as research. Due diligence starts when money or credentials are requested — not when an algorithm misbehaves.
