Jupiter on Solana: aggregator convenience, DeFi risks

jup.ag routes swaps across Solana pools — the smart contracts and tokens still bite.

Jupiter (jup.ag) is a major decentralised-exchange aggregator on Solana: it looks for a route across venues such as Raydium or Orca rather than holding one giant pool of its own. Official docs and the live app also push limit orders, dollar-cost averaging, perps and other “super-app” features. For someone who already uses Solana wallets, that convenience is real.

The risk stack is still DeFi. A route is only as safe as the pools and programmes it touches; a malicious or illiquid token can still ruin a swap; Solana outages and wallet-draining approvals are user-side problems Jupiter cannot magic away. Perpetuals and leverage products add liquidation risk on top. None of that makes Jupiter a “fake site” by default — phishing clones of jup.ag do exist, so bookmark the real domain — but “best price” is not “no downside”.

Practical habits: verify the URL, revoke stale token approvals, start with tiny test swaps, and never sign a mystery contract because a Telegram tip said Jupiter would auto-trade for you. If someone wants remote access to “set up Jupiter”, that is not DeFi help.
