“Funds stay in your wallet” — until you approve the drain

Training that needs a small USDT balance “that never leaves your wallet” is selling a signature, not a lesson.

The pitch sounds careful: you are not paying for a course; you only load fifty or a hundred dollars of USDT into your own Trust Wallet or MetaMask so you can practise. The money “stays with you”. That line is the sedative.

Once the coins sit in a self-custody wallet, the coach walks you through Connect and Approve on a site they chose. In blockchain terms, an unlimited token approval can let another contract pull the balance later without your password. Early “practice trades” look fine. Then a transfer leaves, or the coach’s token cannot be sold back because liquidity vanished. A remote-help tool such as AnyDesk is the blunt variant: they drive the clicks themselves.

Nobody legitimate needs you to approve their contract to teach risk management. Practise on a throwaway wallet with dust you can lose, or on paper. Never share a seed phrase, never install remote-control software for “setup”, and revoke suspicious approvals only through tools you researched independently — after you have secured what remains. If the balance is already gone, use Get help; skip anyone selling a paid undo.

If money already moved, start at Get help. For anyone selling paid “recovery” afterward, see Fake recovery.
