Callers and letterheads promising refunds from the “European Antimonopoly Commission” are borrowing prestige. The European Union’s competition work sits mainly with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP), alongside national authorities in the European Competition Network. There is no separate consumer-refund call centre under that invented English title that cold-contacts crypto-broker victims.
Recovery scripts use the phrase because it sounds official and hard to check. They claim a cartel probe or consumer win, then ask for taxes, AML fees or wallet details to “release” funds. Real DG COMP casework does not arrive as a Telegram voice note demanding USDT.
Verify any EU competition contact through commission.europa.eu channels. If the message followed a broker loss and wants money first, read Fake recovery and stop.
If this already cost you money, start at Get help. If someone now offers paid “recovery”, read Fake recovery first.
