Exness and the FCA register: what retail clients should check

A familiar broker brand can still leave retail traders outside the UK licence they think they have.

People often ask whether Exness is “safe” because a UK company name and a Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) number show up in marketing. That is the right instinct — check the register — but the register answer is more specific than a logo.

Exness (UK) Ltd sits on the FCA Financial Services Register under firm reference 730729, and Companies House lists company 08861481. The firm’s own regulation page says the UK entity operates via exness.uk and does not offer services to retail clients. In plain English: an authorisation can be real and still not cover the account you are about to open.

When someone pushes you toward a lookalike domain, a Telegram “account manager”, or a deposit route that never appears on the entity you just looked up, pause. Clones and affiliates love borrowing a known brand. Type the FCA register yourself, open the firm’s permissions, and read the customer types. If retail is missing, you are not looking at UK retail cover — whatever the WhatsApp pitch says.

Also watch the domain habit: a .uk marketing site is not the same as a co.uk company site, and neither replaces reading the register line by line. If the pitch depends on “we’re FCA, send crypto now”, treat that as a separate risk from the brand name itself.

How to check quickly: search the FCA register for the exact legal name, confirm the FRN, open permissions, and only use contact details from that record or from a domain the firm publishes on its regulation page. If anything asks for remote-access software or off-platform deposits, walk away.
