EXMO told users that UAB Exmo Exchange in Lithuania would stop providing services around the end of 2025, aligning with the close of MiCA transitional arrangements there for firms without the right crypto-asset licence. Lithuania’s central bank had publicly urged unlicensed operators to return client assets before that deadline. A Vilnius company registration is not the same as a Bank of Lithuania crypto-asset service provider licence on the supervisor’s lists. EXMO has also pointed Polish residents toward a Poland-registered virtual-currency activity entry, while newer terms for other users have referenced a Panamanian provider — a restructuring signal, not a comfort blanket.
Separately, EXMO’s own notices have described a wider platform wind-down after UK financial sanctions hit group entities, with deposits stopped, trading restricted, withdrawal queues, and proportional balance adjustments tied to frozen partner custody and older losses. None of that is a reason to trust a stranger in Telegram who offers to “speed” your exit for a fee.
For a wallet-holder the practical risk is custody friction: withdrawals paused, forced asset moves, delisted tickers, Travel Rule checks, higher cash-ramp fees, and a new legal entity you did not choose. Log in on the official site, read the firm’s own notices, withdraw or transfer what you intend to keep on-chain or at a venue you chose, and verify any new provider against the register it claims.
